Mission Statement:

The counseling department at Hallettsville Junior High School will provide a comprehensive program guiding studnet to become effective communicators and creating socially and emotionally balanced individuals. Through parental and community involvement, students will be enabled to further their career goals and build a set of transferable skills producing campassionate, global citizens.

About Us:

This year HJHS will have TWO counselors to better support your child! Mr. Etzler has served as counselor for 25+ years and brings his expertise. Mrs. Freytag is joining the campus this year and looks forward to working with you and your child. Together, we will make every effort to see that your child receives as much peronal assistance as possible.

Program Services:

• Small counseling sessions, with parent permission, focusing on: divorce, grief, study skills, friendship/social skills, and anger management
• Individual meetings to help students adjust to school or help with personal issues on an as needed basis
• Classroom guidance lessons with emphasis on personal/social skills, bullying prevention, academic development (study skills), and career awareness. We will see every class in the building at least once a month
• Referral assistance to other programs and services in the community
